HPXD - High Point x Design

Giving Back to the Teachers

HPxD and the High Point by Design Foundation could not be more proud of and excited about the project that is unfolding right now in our own city: The Design Besties x Andrews High School.

The Design Besties are a non-profit entity and a foursome of highly creative design professionals, are transforming the Teachers’ Lounge at Andrews into a staff retreat. It will be filled with stylish, comfortable, and functional elements, rich colors and references to nature.

One end of the Lounge Before

HPxD partners and other home furnishings brands have donated goods to furnish the space. The list of participating brands includes: Classic Home, American Leather, Design Theory, Kathy Kuo Home, Phillips Collection, Splashworks, Crestview, TOV Furniture, KAS Rugs, Sherwin Williams and Crystorama. We are thankful to Ampac Forwarding and Furnitureland South for helping us get goods from Point A to B.

Sustainably minded Phillips Collection created this counter height bar table for the lounge from an end-cut off a long dining table.

Because this is our first endeavor bringing design and the home furnishings industry to our local community in such a substantive way, we also have the ability to partner with local businesses and organizations. We are touched by the willingness to support—thank you Marsh Cabinets, Parks Wallcovering, 360 Painting of the Triad, and Smith & Jennings.

Of course, this wouldn’t have rolled out without the enthusiastic support from Andrews High School, Guilford County Schools, and High Point Schools Partnerships. We can tell that Principal Baker cares greatly for his school, understanding full well that teachers and school staff need a place for themselves where they can take a moment to recharge and connect.

We love this story so much that we invited High Point Discovered to help us tell it and, as always, Creative Director Hannah Ray, applied her magic storytelling power to do just that. Please read the full account here.

The Design Besties are a 501c3 non-profit organization, and they are still raising funds to help with this transformation. Every bit helps the greater cause. You can give any amount here.

Can’t wait to share the After shots in another two weeks!
