With a counter-intuitive mix of provenance and personality, South + English is an emerging home décor collection where opposites attract, and styles converge. Beautifully, at the brand flagship on MLK, Jr Drive, just off Wrenn. S+E is the brainchild of longtime partners and creative collaborators Palmer Linwood Smith and David Ebbetts – the former, an irrepressible live-large Southerner and the latter, a dialed-back, buttoned-up Brit. They couldn’t be more different. And therein lies the magic.

The S+E showroom can’t be missed. Literally. The triple-storefront exterior is awash in purple, the brand’s signature color. Once inside, the creative adventure continues with idea-inspiring vignettes featuring S+E’s latest creations – living room, dining room, bedroom and a raft of accessories – as well as one-of-a-kind finds from their antique collection called Marketplace.

If you’re lucky, you may find artist in residence Linwood (a.k.a. Palmer Smith) at work on his latest piece of original art. The S+E space also functions as art studio and gallery. We are told Palmer will happily put aside palette and brush for personal showroom tours. There’s a story behind every piece. Just ask!
