The Sarreid story begins in Europe in 1967 when Alex Sarrat and Walter Reid ventured to Spain to find antiquities to bring back to the States. Instead of discovering ancient treasures, they found artisans using old world techniques to make new goods. Entranced by the quality of craftsmanship and the objects created by their hand, they decided to launch a business.
The initial company offering was focused on accessories like hand-blown glass, leather boxes, sand-cast brass and unique home accents inspired by history and classic design. In the 70s, their brass-clad chests and trunks were all the rage and are now highly collectible.
These days, CEO Brad Cates and VP Design and Creative Mickey Sharpe guide the creative direction of the company. New designs are eclectic and feel collected, reflecting Sarreid’s history in a way that resonates today.
